Most Instagrammable Spots in Bangkok

Downtown Bangkok

Starting with the obvious: Bangkok’s city center makes for amazing instagrammable pictures. Thailand’s concrete jungle is made up of many busy streets like Sukhumvit Road, where skyscrapers meet cultural sites. A very popular activity is visiting numerous markets, e.g. the Chatuchak Weekend Market or the food-centric night market on Yaowarat Road. These places will grant unique backdrops for your Bangkok photos.

Wat Arun aka Temple of Dawn

As the first temple on the list, Wat Arun stuns visitors with its intricate architecture. The geometric design and detailed artwork make this temple one of the most instagrammable spots in Bangkok! You’ll be able to take breathtaking angled shots here, from many viewpoints and levels. Due to its popularity, this place is always busy though, so if you want to avoid the crowds, try to go in the morning before 10 a.m.

Erawan Museum

If you love history and exploring artifacts, a must-visit in Bangkok has to be the Erawan Museum. This picturesque building doesn’t only surprise with its pink color, but also the beautifully curated architecture. Known for its three-headed elephant sculpture, the Erawan offers fantastic picture spots inside and out.

Wat Pho

Another beautiful temple worth your visit. Wat Pho is one of Bangkok’s largest temple complexes that is renowned for its architecture, detailed carvings, and over 1,000 Buddha images around the sacred place. The most famous site here is the Reclining Buddha, an enormous golden statue measuring over 46 meters in length. The size of this temple makes it easy to spend hours hunting down beautiful picture spots.

Baiyoke Tower II or Mahanakhon Tower

Would you really get the most out of a city trip without seeing it from above?
Bangkok is home to many skyscrapers, and some of them have panoramic observation decks/floors that you don’t want to miss. One of these is the Baiyoke Tower II, which welcomes visitors with an outdoor area on a revolving platform granting 360° views of the city.
Alternatively, consider heading to Bangkok’s highest building, the Mahanakhon Tower aka King Power. The Glass Skywalk here makes for amazing Instagram pictures too!

At the Hotel

If you still wonder where to stay when traveling to Bangkok, why not choose a picturesque hotel?
Undoubtedly, many aesthetically pleasing hotels with breathtaking rooftop views can be found in Thailand’s capital. A top recommendation is the Mövenpick Hotel Sukhumvit 15 in the city center because of the amazing rooftop areas and grand lobby. The pool and gazebos surrounded by high-rise buildings are perfect for vamping up your feed!

Benchasiri Park

It’s always good to get out of the busy streets and spend your time surrounded by greenery. Bangkok’s public parks will give you exactly that while at the same time photographing well. Depending on what park you go to, you’ll be able to play sports, picnic, stroll around, look at interesting art pieces, and discover lakes/ponds.
We went to Benchasiri Park but Lumphini and Benchakitti Park are also wonderful to explore and even bigger.

Rooftop Bars

Similar to discovering Downtown Bangkok and visiting sky observatories, rooftop bars grant breathtaking views of the city. In general, rooftop bars have gained in popularity and Thailand was quick to establish and large selection of panoramic terraces. The best bars can be found in selected hotels or higher buildings. Make sure to look up what’s located near you.

We visited the Flashback Rooftop Bar located on the top floor of the hotel Tastoria Collection.

Terminal 21

Last but not least, instagrammable pictures can happen in the most unexpected spots like the shopping mall. Terminal 21 is Bangkok’s largest mall, designed to resemble an airport. The building is made up of 40,000 sq meters, where each floor is themed after a different city/country. It offers many different and unique photo spots, but if you love the “big city”-vibes, stop at the sky bridge before the entrance on the second floor.

Good to Know – Visiting Thailand’s Temples

Last but not least, since this list includes some temples and sacred places, it’s important to know some basic etiquette. Check out this post if you’re not sure what to wear, what to bring, or if you’re new to Thailand and need some advice and tips on traveling and sightseeing temples.
