Most Instagrammable Spots in Maui

By the Beach

Maui has stunning beaches all over the island. Taking pictures at the closest beach to your hotel/Airbnb is definitely a must and doesn’t require planning or going anywhere really.

Check out Maui’s Best Beaches, if you’re still looking for suggestions.

We took plenty of pictures at Lipoa Street Beach in Kihei, South Maui.

Mt. Haleakalā

High above the clouds, you’ll find the summit of Haleakalā – Maui’s highest point. 10,00 ft above sea level makes watching the sunset or sunrise an incredible activity.

I definitely recommend arriving a little earlier so you have time to explore this amazing dormant volcano.

Black Sand Beach at Wai’ānapanapa

Ever wondered what a unique beach looks like? Here you go – black cliffs and sand combined with the beautiful luscious greenery around make this stunning contrast in pictures.
Definitely one of the most instagrammable spots in Maui!

Hiking Trail at Wai’ānapanapa

Also located inside the Wai’ānapanapa State Park, you’ll be able to take this little trail by the beach with stunning scenery all over. The plants and trees lining the trail make it extremely picturesque.
There are many different lookouts with views of the entire park and black sand beaches!

Volcanic Cave at Wai’ānapanapa

Finally, the last great picture spot at Wai’ānapanapa – this beautiful cave right next to the black sand beach offers incredible scenery with unique lighting.

Scenic Drive to Kula

Can’t make it all the way to the top of Haleakalā? Stopping anywhere along the road up to Kula will give you stunning views of the island without all the people and stress. The town is located at an elevation of around 2,000 ft making sunsets look amazing.

Palm Tree Shoot

Now, this might be another obvious but taking pictures with palm trees can be super Instagram-worthy. You’ll find so many opportunities anywhere around the island – make sure to take advantage of them!

Koki Beach

The large red cliff on the side of the beach makes an amazing backdrop for Instagram photos. Koki Beach is located on the east of Maui, making it best to reach while driving the Road to Hana.

Bamboo Forest

Hawaii really has it all! Located on the Road to Hana, you’ll find this amazing hike through tall bamboo trees on winding paths called the Pīpīwai Trail. It makes for great picture opportunities on the bridge and the wooden planks and is definitely something you don’t want to miss!

Sunsets in West Maui

Watching sunsets on an island is probably one of my favorite things to do on vacation.
And it’s another effortless way to get extremely beautiful pictures. Sunsets on the west beaches are especially great – consider Kihei or Lahaina.

We found this parking lot by our Airbnb and it made for some great photos!

Waterfalls | Waimoku & Wailua Falls

Hawaii wouldn’t be Hawaii without its breathtaking waterfalls, and the island of Maui is no exception.
Since there are so many waterfalls on the island, it can get pretty repetitive to visit them all. Here are two of my favorites though:

Waimoku Falls is located at the very end of the Pīpīwai Trail so it can take some time and sweat to get there – it’s totally worth it though. The waterfall plummets 400 ft and is one of the tallest accessible waterfalls on Maui. (Picture on the left)

Wailua Falls on the other hand is right by the road – the Hana Hwy to be exact. Unless you plan on jumping in the water, you probably won’t spend more than 20 minutes here. Taking pictures from the bridge will give you great angles of the surrounding nature.

Kapalua Coastal Trail

Connecting the beaches of Oneloa and Kapalua, this wooden trail by the beach is amazing for beautiful pictures. Consider coming here either during the day or golden hour – the views will be stunning.

Kaumahina State Wayside Park

When heading on the Road to Hana, you most definitely want to stop at this amazing lookout.
Its elevation makes you see the entire coast, hills, and luscious vegetation of East Maui.

And that wraps up the Most Instagrammable Spots in Maui – hopefully, you found something in there that sparked your interest!
As I mentioned above, you will have no trouble finding awesome picture opportunities all over the island. This list mainly points out inspirations and ideas.

Let me know which pictures you liked the best and where you’re going to head first!
