The island has jumped on the vegan food trend years ago and new places keep opening up all the time. From plant-based food trucks to higher-end kitchens, there is something for everyone. You’ll be able to try authentic Hawaiian food, trend foods, and more.
Additionally, since Hawaii is tropical, you’ll be able to explore so many fresh and delicious fruits on almost every corner of the streets. But of course, fruits are not the only thing you’d want to eat – but it’s definitely a lovely cherry on top.
Shopping for vegan alternatives at grocery stores is also relatively easy and you will find great options most of the time.

Sprout Vegan Cafe
This trendy little café directly in Kihei has to be my favorite on Maui!
Super yummy fresh foods combined with good vibes. All the items on the menu have so much variety to them and are made from great ingredients. Not only the food is fantastic though but also the concept of the store – offering a little thrifting corner inside and, of course, entertainment.

Crunchy Wrap, Spicy Tofu Roll, Hibiscus Fizzy
Loaded Fries
Earth Aloha Eats
An all-vegan food truck that is available at two locations. Eating from food trucks really makes a Maui trip more authentic – and with this place that experience is also available to vegans! The menu has a great selection and the staff and vibes at this place are just unmatched. I totally recommend stopping at this place! We even ate here right before our flight home since it was on the way to the airport.
Crispy Chicken Burger, Pulled Pork Fries, Aloha Burger, & Lemonades
Moku Roots
A colorful and trendy spot that is half bar and half restaurant. The fully plant-based menu offers something for everyone and really is everything you could ask for. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to go here but it would be on our list for next time.
That’s A Wrap Cafe
A lovely cafe right by the Kamaole Beaches. It’s the perfect place for a little lunch break during your beach day. Even though this place isn’t fully vegan it offers so many vegan options from wraps and bowls to a customizable shake bar. The atmosphere and food are truly amazing!
Vegan Poke Bowl, Vegan Chili, Gurl in the Curl (Acai Bowl), The Valerie (Wrap)
Wailea Kitchen
Located in an area with 5-star resorts and a golf court around, this place offers stunning open-air dining with great views. Vegan options on the menu like cheesecake make this restaurant worth a visit! Definitely come here if you want to enjoy a higher-end dining experience with no lack of the Maui flair.
Surfing Monkey Shave Ice
Would you really be in Hawaii if you didn’t try authentic shaved ice? There are many places on the island that sell this refresher, this is just one we went to in Kihei. This place is located right by other food spots so it’s great for getting dessert after a meal!

Maui Grill Food Truck
As mentioned above, food trucks are super common and popular in Hawaii. So if you’re looking for an authentic Hawaiian experience definitely consider eating here. They’re open late and make a great choice if you’re still trying to figure out what to have for dinner. Unfortunately, they only have one vegan dish on the menu – the Aloha Tofu (tofu with ginger sauce, rice, salad, & Hawaiian sweet potato salad) – but it’s really delicious!
Nutcharee’s Authentic Thai Food
If you’re a sucker for Asian food you will love this place. They clearly state on their menu if items can be made vegan or not. I totally recommend the Pad Thai from here – it was probably the best I’ve ever had! Conveniently, this place was right next to our Airbnb, so we were able to take our food home at night.
